Project news and direction

Hey all, it has been some time since the last update and changes in personal circumstances (e.g. jobs) have shifted my available time back to something more manageable.

Way back, I started working on a big, new feature that would make Pixel Proof stand out and be more immediately engaging to use.  Unfortunately, this feature did not have the support of my backend graphics pipeline, so work had to be done on that end first.  Along the way, some small improvements/tools and a change to a new build toolchain on Windows got hung up, so those other features and fixes should be coming soon.  The big feature is still not ready, though hopefully it's not too far off.

Overall, there are a lot of pain points in this experimental editor that I'd like to address.  Part of that involves how custom/hand-rolled the UI is.  I do plan to migrate to another UI framework.  This would be another big task, but make future improvements and even mod/plugin support easier to implement.  Most important are settling the fundamental requirements of a graphics editor to make them work as expected.  As for details about the big features and plans from here, I'll leave that to a future post. ;)
